Description

Watch this cardinal fly around your yard as the wind blows! The Cardinal Whirligig DIY Kit comes with pre-cut wooden pieces, all of the whirligig parts and hardware you will need for assembly, and the complete instructions.

These do-it-yourself DIY kits are great for any skill level! There’s nothing as satisfying as making a piece of art with your own hands. DIY kits can help you de-stress and take your mind off of your worries. They allow you to use your hands in a fun, productive, and healthy way.

All you’ll need for this Cardinal Whirligig DIY Kit is a little bit of sandpaper to sand the edges, paint of your choice along with a UV clear coat to keep your cardinal looking nice for years to come, a hammer and a screwdriver. Have some fun this weekend and make yourself a Cardinal Whirligig!

What's Included In The Cardinal Whirligig DIY Kit?

  • All the wood for whirligigs is already cut out, drilled, and ready for you to do the final sanding.
  • Whirligig Propeller Hubs and Blades (wings) that go on the hubs.
  • The whirligig parts and hardware to complete your cardinal, including the brass tubes, nails, screws, pivot nail, and dowel.
  • The full-size instructions, which show an exploded view of how the whirligig goes together and how you can build one for yourself.

What You'll Need To Finish The Cardinal Whirligig DIY Kit:

We recommend basic DIY and home craft skills. The Cardinal Whirligig DIY Kit is pretty easy to put together, but you might need a little help from a few tools. To assemble your whirligig parts into a beautiful cardinal, you’ll need:

  • Sandpaper 120 grit and 220 grit.
  • Hammer.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Pliers.
  • Glue.
  • Paint. (We recommend using a primer coat, then painting the colors, and putting a clear protective finish over that).

Assembly instructions for the cardinal wind spinner are included in the whirligig pre-cut kit. We recommend that you dry-fit all the parts together before gluing and nailing. Go ahead and lightly sand each piece, and then start your assembly.

Some people prefer to paint the whirligig before putting it together, but it looks a little more uniform if you do the painting after assembling your Cardinal Whirligig DIY Kit. A quick coat of primer will give you an even surface to start your painting. Then, go ahead and paint the bird wind spinner the colors that you'd like. Use a clear coat over top of the paint to protect your whirligig from the elements for years of enjoyment.

Get creative with the placement of your wind spinner and find a great spot for it in your yard or garden. You’ll want to show off your beautiful creation! The Cardinal Whirligig DIY Kit comes with a pivot nail and pivot bearing. The nail can be attached to a stake or other rod with the pointed end up. Slide the bird and pivot bearing over the pivot nail for the bird to swing and catch wind. Whirligigs are known for vibrating the ground, which drives away rodents, and you can enjoy their looks and whimsical movements. What more could a person want?

Whether you are planning to put this DIY Kit together solo, with a friend, or with your significant other, you will enjoy every second of it. Add our Cardinal Whirligig DIY Kit to your cart to have some fun!

    A different gift

We bought this kit as a gift for a challenged adult. He was thrilled to get something different to build and was anxious to get started. I haven't heard yet how it went though. If it's a hit, we may be ordering others.
