Description

One of the most important aspects of woodworking is keeping your tools in good condition. This means regularly cleaning and replacing parts as needed.

Foredom SR Series Maintenance Kit

Contains one key tip shaft, one pair of motor brushes, one tube of flex shaft grease and operation manual.   Use for new 1/6" HP SR, SRM and SRB. Newer motor has flat areas.

The Flexible 1/6 HP SR Series Shaft

Flexible shafts are used to rotate handpieces at high speed while allowing a great deal of maneuverability. The two major components of a flexible shaft are the inner core and the outer sheath.

The length of the shaft can be adjusted to suit the needs of the user by unscrewing the set screw in the handpiece end and pushing the handpiece further onto the shaft, then retightening the set screw. The sheath length can be increased or decreased.

Handpieces attach to shafts by means of a tapered cone and fit snugly but can be removed by pulling straight off. Before reattaching the handpiece, check that the O-ring is properly seated in the groove and that drive pad is tight against motor coupling. Screw handpiece back on until it is snug against coupling and locked in position by set screws.

A Pair Of Brushes

Brushes should be checked for wear periodically.

Motor brushes are an important part of keeping your engine running smoothly. They help to keep the metal connecting parts lubricated and free of debris build up.

When new, they are approximately 5/8″ long. However, they will eventually wear down to 1/4″. It is important to replace them when they reach this point, as continuing to use them can damage your engine. Be sure to replace both motor brushes even if one of them is less worn than the other.

Doing so will ensure that your engine continues to run efficiently.

The Tube Of Flex Shaft Grease

Motor grease should be used to lubricate the inner shaft every 50 hours of use. The shaft should be checked for any damage and wiped clean before applying the grease.

Motor solvent should be used to clean the shaft every 200 hours of use. The solvent will help to remove any build-up on the shaft and ensure that it is properly lubricated. The Instruction pamphlet provides step-by-step instructions on how to replace the inner shaft and brushes. following these instructions will help to extend the life of your motor.

There is also an Instruction pamphlet to help you through the process of replacing the shaft and brushes.

For SR motors made after 2003.  Use for new 1/6" HP SR, SRM and SRB.
