The Least Tern Flying Carving Pattern is absolutely the most fascinating shorebird to carve . The Stiller pattern features detailed views of the Least Tern in a flying/soaring position. Use the side view and top view to cut out your shorebird. The Least Tern Flying Carving Pattern includes a side view, top view,  and detail of the wings.  Each view shows the feathering contours and details that you will need to finish your Least Tern.  When your ready to paint your Least Tern try a  simple color palette which allows you to create incredible softness and variation by mixing and using acrylic colors. Each finished piece has it's own story to tell as you define the fine lines and areas in your carving.

Least Tern Flying Carving Pattern Recommendations:

  • Materials suggested to carve the full size Least Tern;

    • One - 4" x 4" x 10" block of Basswood or Tupelo for the head and body.
    • Two - 1" x 3" x 10" blocks of wood for the wings.
    • 5 mm Dark Brown Eye's.
  • Materials suggested to carve the 1/2 size Least Tern;

    • One - 2" x 2" x 5" block of Basswood or Tupelo for the head and body.
    • Two - 1/2" x 2" x 5" blocks of wood for the wings.
    • 3 mm Dark Brown.
