The handle is a octagon shape with a lacquer coating  to prevent moisture from getting into the wood. The handle and blade are the perfect balance to fit comfortably in your hand. Polished German hand-forged blades made from high carbon steel, hardened in bath salt mixed with a hardness of HRc 61, on 2/3 of the blade, then polished to a high gloss finish making it easier to penetrate into the wood, and resharpen. Tools come sharpened at cutting angle of 25° which is suitable for soft to medium wood. Two Cherries recommends that the burr at the cutting edge is removed with a sharpening stone prior to first time use. Always clean the tools after each use with a cloth soaked in oil to prevent corrosion for best results. Two Cherries are hand made in Germany with a long lasting edge and supreme strength and durability.
