The Colwood Fixed Tip PS Long is (3/32" x 1 3/8") Primary Long is used for a variety of shading purposes without putting your hand in an awkward position.
The shading tip is designed to scorch large areas of wood especially for gradient tones, shading, and filling in. The tip of the Colwood Woodburning Shading Pen works great for filling in black areas, such as signage, or in the background of a signature. You can also use the tip to gently overlap layers to produce soft gradient tones, somewhat like the the ones you would use to create portraitists.
This Colwood Woodburning Pen can be used two different ways. One is to use it to draw the shading tip back towards yourself. This movement will shorten the stroke. The other way to use the Shading tip is a longer sweeping motion of moving your hand sideways. You will develop a rhythm for consistent overlapping of lines with the sideways motion.
