The OCC Stubby Tool #11 gouge is part of the OCC Tools Stubby Collection.  These tools are pretty hefty featuring a 3 1/2" oak handle and large tang to enable you to easily carve some of the hardest pieces even in small areas.  

Shortly after Mike Shipley bought the Denny Tool Co. from Denny, he came out with these "stubby" tools he and Denny had discussed making.  Basically they are the large mallet tool size blades in a shorter, stubbier handle.  Great for a whole lot of wood removal but not for mallet use.

 The OCC Stubby Tool #11 x 1/2" gouge features a #11 sweep that is 1/2" wide.

  All OCC gouges come with a pre-sharpened edge.  To keep this Gouge in razor sharp condition, strop on a regular basis.  We recommend polishing compound and a strop.
