Sometimes pushing tools by hand is not the most efficient way to go, especially when carving large projects or denser hardwoods. The mallet tools are designed with just that in mind. Handcrafted with the same long-lasting Flexcut razor edge, the Ash handles can be driven with a mallet or by hand.   

Flexcut Mallet Tool #9 x 3/4" 18mm are sized for very extensive stock removal. Their handle diameter and steel caliper are twenty percent larger for intense projects. Carousel carvers, chainsaw carvers and those doing life size statuary will find these tools very speedy for knocking out rough shapes or smoothing out large areas.

These Flexcut mallet  tools are pre-sharpened at the factory to a highly polished razor's edge. This creates an efficient, long-lasting cutting tool. The more polished the edge, the sharper it is and the longer it will stay sharp. 

We recommend a strop and sharpening compound.  Flexcut tools are made in the USA from high carbon spring steel and quality craftsmanship.

Maintaining a sharp blade

Properly maintaining your carving tools is the key to achieving success in your projects. When considering the right tools for the job, a strop and sharpening compound are highly recommended. With these in hand, you'll be able to achieve the perfect sharpness and angle required for your carving tool.

It's important to remember that the ideal angle for sharpening your gouge is 15°, which is the same angle it's typically pre-sharpened at. Keeping your tools maintained and sharp will significantly enhance your carving experience.

Don't forget to wear an apron and a dust mask to collect all the sawdust – with your newly sharpened tools, you're bound to create plenty of it!
