Once you adhere the pattern to the wood, drill holes for the interior cut, then use a small drill bit to bore the hole for the clock. Start cutting the design, working from the center towards the outside.

When you are finished, remove the pattern from the wood. Use a round over bit to shape the outside of the clock, being cautious when you near the area where the airplane protrudes from the oval area. Use a small rasp or file to smooth out the delicate area. Sand the rest to complete work as needed. Attach the clock piece to the base using wood glue.  You can spray or coat with a finish of your choice.
