The Common Snipe Flying/Landing Carving Pattern is a great way to get those wood carving projects going that you'll enjoy. The Common Snipe is a small stocky bird with the longest bill of all Snipes. They are 9-11 inches long, with a wingspan of approximately 15-17 inches, and have a broad white stripe at the base of the wings. They are a unisex bird, meaning male and females are similar.

• Materials suggested to carve the full size Common Snipe;

• Body; 2"  x 4" x 8" piece of Basswood or Tupelo.
• Head w/ Bill; 1" x 2" x 4 1/2" piece of Basswood or Tupelo.
• Wings; 1" x 4" x 9" piece of Basswood or Tupelo.
• Eye's; 6 mm Brown.
• Feet.

• Materials suggested to carve the 1/2 size Common Snipe; 

• Body; 2" x 3" x 5" piece of Basswood or Tupelo.
• Head w/ Bill; 1/2" x 2" x 3" piece of Basswood or Tupelo.
• Wings; 1/2" x 2" x 4 3/4" piece of Basswood or Tupelo.
• Eye's; 3 mm Brown.
• Feet.
