Flexcut Mallet Tool #10 x 9/16" (14mm) carving gouge

Sometimes pushing tools by hand is not the most efficient way to go, especially when carving large projects or denser hardwoods. The mallet tools are designed with just that in mind. Handcrafted with the same long-lasting Flexcut razor edge, the Ash handles can be driven with a mallet or by hand.

The Flexcut Mallet Tool #10 x 9/16" 14mm are sized for very extensive stock removal. Their handle diameter and steel caliper are twenty percent larger for intense projects. Carousel carvers, chainsaw carvers and those doing life size statuary will find these tools very speedy for knocking out rough shapes or smoothing out large areas.

These Flexcut mallet  tools are pre-sharpened at the factory to a highly polished razor's edge. This creates an efficient, long-lasting cutting tool. The more polished the edge, the sharper it is and the longer it will stay sharp. We recommend a strop and sharpening compound.

Flexcut tools are made in the USA from high carbon spring steel and quality craftsmanship.

A sharp edge is not only beneficial for carving, but it also extends the lifespan of your tools. However, achieving and maintaining a sharp edge requires regular maintenance. To keep your carving tools in pristine condition, a strop and sharpening compound are the recommended tools of the trade. Not only will these tools aid in reaching the perfect angle needed for your carving, but they will reduce the need for constant resharpening. It's essential to remember that the ideal sharpening angle is 15°, the same angle as a pre-sharpened gouge. So, put on your apron and dust mask, grab your sharpening tools, and get ready to elevate your carving game with a sharp and durable edge.
